About Us

Background

Tauranga Roller Skating Club was formed in 2017. We are a small and vibrant club, and our focus is on developing our skaters and ensuring we promote Artistic Skating in our area. Our skaters compete all year round at various open days, regional and national competitions throughout the country and some, internationally.

Our club's first attendance at the National Championships was in 2018, where three of our skaters competed. The following year we doubled the  number of qualifying skaters, increasing to sixteen skaters in 2025.

Our Club is continuing to grow as our skaters reach greater levels of outstanding achievements thanks to the dedication of our coaches.

Performance

In 2025, sixteen of our skaters qualified for the New Zealand National Championships held in Blenheim in July, all placed well in their events and taking home several medals and New Zealand titles.

This year we had two Pacific Cup entries in Mini Ladies Figures & Free Skating, which was held alongside the Oceania Competition in Brisbane, Australia at the end of August.

After our first skater competing at the World Skate games in Rimini, Italy in September 2024, our club continues to grow and reach new levels with every coming season.

Our Skaters

Our competitive skaters range from 9 years upwards, including two juniors skating in advanced international grades.

We are devoloping two new Precision teams, who will also be competing in the up-coming competition season.

Classes

We also hold  structured Kiwiskate classes (facilitated by SkateNZ) for all ages as an introduction to skating and a prerequisite to artistic coaching lessons.  Several of our advanced artistic skaters coach this program, which requires them to achieve the appropriate coaching accreditations, paving the way to a very exciting career.

Our club also offers Adult, Beginner Artistic, Recreational, Speed and Holiday classes from time to time, and we look forward to offering more classes now that we have an amazing permanent rink!
